1980 HOLDEN VC BROCK COMMODORE.
In late 1979, Holden pulled out of touring car racing after two years of domination by the LX Torana A9X SS hatchback. In 1980, this led to Peter Brock buying the Holden Dealer Team (HDT), though without Holden funding was needed to continue racing and development. This led to the creation of a modified VC Commodore, tuned and styled under the direction of Peter Brock who established HDT Special Vehicles, not only to produce enhanced versions of the Commodore but as a way of funding the race team. The result was a luxury-performance version of the VC Commodore, to be sold through select Holden dealers throughout Australia as the HDT Commodore. The HDT Commodore was powered by an HDT tuned 5.0-litre V8 engine, producing 160 kW (210 hp) at 4500 rpm. The HDT Commodore was a limited edition vehicle, with exactly 500 production models produced. These only sold with a choice of three colours (Palais White, Firethorn Red or Tuxedo Black) to pay homage to Marlboro, HDT’s main sponsor at the time.
Muscle Car Warehouse bring to you this beautiful example of Brock’s first HDT creation. This Firethorn Red VC Brock Commodore is in great condition and has covered just over 29,000 kilometres. Sold new through, Sutton’s Chullora in November of 1980 and staying in the first owners possession until 2007. The second owner stored the car and kept it unused for the next ten years until 2017 and then sold to the third owner who had the car until February 2020. It was then that it changed hands for the last time and was sold to the current owner. The only additions to the car is the sunroof, which is believed to have been installed by the first owner and a GPS tracking system has been fitted too. A careful paint correction has recently been undertaken on the exterior paint as well as ceramic coating to protect the acrylic paint and the body rustproofed by Ming Rustproofing when new also. The Carmine Red interior presents beautifully also and still retaining original items such as the unique numbered MOMO steering wheel and Eurovox stereo. Still running the original 308 Holden V8 together with its original T-350 automatic gearbox. This VC Brock still retains its original logbook, logbook folder, extensive paperwork including the original sales brochure, HDT certificate, a super rare hand written test drive report by Peter Brock showing he test drove this very car and old registration papers , etc. The number plates first issued to the vehicle are included also as well as the current Victorian number plates PB-118. Other items such as the original spare tyre and centre cap remover tool are also still with the vehicle.
